Les chiffres ont \u00e9t\u00e9 publi\u00e9s apr\u00e8s une \u00e9tude faite par le Bureau national des statistiques (NBS). Le rapport est intitul\u00e9 Enqu\u00eate sur la criminalit\u00e9 et la perception de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9, repose sur un sondage aupr\u00e8s de 12 000 foyers, couvrant l\u2019ensemble du territoire.<br>Si ces donn\u00e9es d\u00e9peint un tableau effrayant de la situation s\u00e9curitaire, elles sont \u00e9galement sujettes \u00e0 controverse. Des analystes, notamment ceux du cabinet ind\u00e9pendant SBM Intelligence bas\u00e9 \u00e0 Lagos, remettent en question la m\u00e9thodologie du NBS. Selon leur \u00e9tude couvrant juillet 2023 \u00e0 juin 2024, \u00ab\u00a0seulement\u00a0\u00bb 7 568 cas de kidnappings auraient \u00e9t\u00e9 recens\u00e9s, pour un montant total de ran\u00e7ons \u00e9valu\u00e9 \u00e0 7 millions d&rsquo;euros. En comparaison, le NBS attribue aux groupes arm\u00e9s, souvent qualifi\u00e9s de \u00ab\u00a0bandits\u00a0\u00bb, un chiffre d\u2019affaires criminel d\u00e9passant un milliard d&rsquo;euros, soit davantage que le budget annuel de la d\u00e9fense nig\u00e9riane. Ces bandits, particuli\u00e8rement actifs dans les r\u00e9gions du Nord-Ouest et du Nord-Central, exploitent un business lucratif ancr\u00e9 dans la violence et la terreur.<br>Le Nigeria est un pays en proie \u00e0 des attaques des groupes terroristes, des violences intercommunautaires et des affrontements entre \u00e9leveurs et agriculteurs.
