Le Nig\u00e9ria fait face \u00e0 une flamb\u00e9e des prix qui se poursuit pour le quatri\u00e8me mois cons\u00e9cutif, selon les donn\u00e9es r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9es par l\u2019Agence nationale de la statistique ce mercredi 15 janvier 2025. En d\u00e9cembre, l’inflation a \u00e9t\u00e9 principalement aliment\u00e9e par une demande accrue durant la p\u00e9riode des f\u00eates, touchant de mani\u00e8re significative les prix des denr\u00e9es alimentaires et des boissons non alcoolis\u00e9es.
La mont\u00e9e de l’inflation fait suite \u00e0 des d\u00e9cisions \u00e9conomiques prises en 2023 par le pr\u00e9sident Bola Tinubu. Parmi ces mesures figurent la d\u00e9valuation du naira, qui a entra\u00een\u00e9 une perte de pouvoir d\u2019achat pour de nombreux Nig\u00e9rians, et la suppression des subventions sur le carburant, dans le but de redynamiser une \u00e9conomie en souffrance et de r\u00e9\u00e9quilibrer les finances publiques. Apr\u00e8s une accalmie observ\u00e9e en juillet 2024, o\u00f9 l\u2019impact initial de la d\u00e9valuation avait commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 s\u2019estomper, l\u2019inflation a repris son ascension. Cette reprise a \u00e9t\u00e9 amplifi\u00e9e par une s\u00e9rie d\u2019augmentations des prix de l\u2019essence, exacerbant la plus grave crise du co\u00fbt de la vie que le pays ait connue depuis des d\u00e9cennies. Parmi les produits les plus affect\u00e9s, les aliments de base comme le riz, le ma\u00efs et l\u2019huile de cuisson ont vu leurs prix grimper, p\u00e9nalisant les m\u00e9nages \u00e0 faibles revenus. De plus, les co\u00fbts li\u00e9s aux transports ont augment\u00e9, r\u00e9percutant la hausse des prix du carburant sur les biens de consommation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
