L\u2019Assembl\u00e9e nationale fran\u00e7aise a adopt\u00e9, lundi 7 juillet 2025, une loi autorisant la r\u00e9trocession officielle de cet objet rituel. Il \u00e9tait conserv\u00e9 jusqu\u2019\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent au mus\u00e9e du Quai Branly \u2013 Jacques Chirac, \u00e0 Paris.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mesurant trois m\u00e8tres de long et pesant 430 kilogrammes, le tambour sacr\u00e9 servait autrefois \u00e0 transmettre des messages cod\u00e9s et \u00e0 alerter les populations rurales, notamment lors des enr\u00f4lements forc\u00e9s sous la colonisation. Instrument de communication, mais aussi symbole d\u2019autorit\u00e9 et de r\u00e9sistance, il est depuis longtemps r\u00e9clam\u00e9 par les communaut\u00e9s ivoiriennes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Restaur\u00e9 en 2022 en pr\u00e9vision de son retour, le Djidji Ay\u00f4kw\u00e9 va enfin regagner sa terre natale plus d\u2019un si\u00e8cle apr\u00e8s sa spoliation. Cette restitution r\u00e9pond \u00e0 une demande officielle formul\u00e9e par l\u2019\u00c9tat ivoirien en 2019, mais les revendications datent, elles de l\u2019ind\u00e9pendance du pays en 1960.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce tambour n\u2019est qu\u2019un exemple parmi une longue liste : la C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire r\u00e9clame encore \u00e0 la France la restitution d\u2019au moins 148 \u0153uvres et objets d\u2019art pill\u00e9s durant la colonisation. Ce geste s\u2019inscrit dans une dynamique plus large de restitution du patrimoine africain par les anciennes puissances coloniales.
