Il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;une d\u00e9cision symbolique visant \u00e0 mieux refl\u00e9ter l\u2019histoire et le patrimoine national. L\u2019annonce a \u00e9t\u00e9 faite r\u00e9cemment par Mahama Ayariga, chef de la majorit\u00e9 au Parlement ghan\u00e9en, qui a confirm\u00e9 le d\u00e9p\u00f4t imminent d\u2019un projet de loi relatif au changement de nom de l\u2019a\u00e9roport international Kotoka.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Selon le responsable parlementaire, le texte sera prochainement soumis \u00e0 l\u2019examen de la Chambre. Il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;une volont\u00e9 politique de revisiter certains symboles nationaux h\u00e9rit\u00e9s de p\u00e9riodes controvers\u00e9es de l\u2019histoire du pays.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Inaugur\u00e9 en 1958 sous l\u2019appellation a\u00e9roport international d\u2019Accra, l\u2019actuel a\u00e9roport international Kotoka n\u2019a pris son nom qu\u2019en 1967. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 rebaptis\u00e9 en hommage au lieutenant-g\u00e9n\u00e9ral Emmanuel Kwasi Kotoka, l\u2019un des officiers sup\u00e9rieurs impliqu\u00e9s dans le coup d\u2019\u00c9tat militaire ayant renvers\u00e9 en 1966 Kwame Nkrumah premier pr\u00e9sident du Ghana et figure majeure du panafricanisme. Ce choix de d\u00e9nomination reste, des d\u00e9cennies plus tard profond\u00e9ment contest\u00e9. Pour de nombreux Ghan\u00e9ens, notamment les partisans de Kwame Nkrumah, le nom de Kotoka demeure associ\u00e9 \u00e0 une page sombre de l\u2019histoire nationale. Nkrumah est en effet toujours c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9 comme l\u2019un des p\u00e8res fondateurs de l\u2019ind\u00e9pendance du Ghana et comme un ardent d\u00e9fenseur de l\u2019unit\u00e9 africaine, dont l\u2019influence d\u00e9passe largement les fronti\u00e8res du pays.
